What is it? How do you get it? What does it do for you?
salvation (sal va shen) , n. [ME. salvacioun; OFr. sauvation; L. salvatio < salvatus, pp. of salvare, to save], 1. a saving or being saved; preservation from destruction; rescue. 2. a person or thing which is a means, cause, or source of preservation or rescue. 3. in theology, spiritual rescue from sin and death; saving of the soul through the atonement of Jesus; redemption.
Salvation is a gift from God to man through Jesus Christ. Romans 6:23 says, For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Why does God desire to give this wonderful gift to man? The Bible says in John 3:16, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Therefore, God loves people enough that he was willing to sacrifice Jesus so that the world could be saved.
The gift of salvation is not earned by those who receive it. Salvation can not be earned. Nobody deserves to be offered the merciful gift of salvation. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast. Therefore, man cannot simply try to live better with his own power in order to obtain salvation. It requires the merciful hand of God moving on a person’s life.
If man cannot earn salvation, how can it be obtained?
Use the below questions and answers to help guide you to salvation. Remember Salvation is not something you get from repeating words someone says or types. You have to believe for all your heart, understand with your mind and have faith in God.
Did you know God Loves You?
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Did you know who is good enough to go to heaven?
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
Did you know who has sinned?
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Did you know the price for sin?
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Did you know Christ Died for Your sin?
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Do you know that you can be saved?
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Here in Romans it tells you what you must do in order to be saved.
1. You must believe in Jesus Christ.
2. You must believe that He died for your sins.
3. You must believe that He rose from the grave.
4. You must confess that belief to Him with your whole heart.
5. You must call on the name of the Lord to forgive you of your sin.
If you have done this then according to the scripture you have been saved.
I John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
If you have done this you need to share it with someone.
For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
